Good afternoon! An early post today, and keeping it brief because of some other obligations this evening. Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for the Catskills and Adirondacks. As precipitation builds northeast across the state, some colder air will remain trapped near the surface in these areas. This will result in a period of freezing rain or snow at the onset. This will be this evening into the early overnight for the Catskills, and during the overnight in the Adirondacks. Not expecting any real snow accumulation, but a glaze of ice could accumulate before temps rise early Sunday morning.
There are no whole-scale changes to the “big picture” with regard to this storm system. A rainy night tonight for the majority of us. Precipitation should gradually diminish to showers on Sunday, and a pair of cold fronts cross a) late Sunday night, and b) Monday morning… with temps dropping from west to east Monday afternoon, and whatever rain showers are left will change to snow showers.
