Merry Christmas late and Happy New Year early! It has not been looking good for me since it has been 8 days since my last snowfall map of any kind. I’m looking at at least another 5-7 days before any new snowfall maps.
So what happened to the big cold I showed coming down around and after New Year’s? It’s still coming. It’s slightly behind schedule and less of a whomp! there it is type of cold snap… more like around to just a little below normal heading into early January.
After inches of rain and more potential flooding with water water everywhere this Holiday Season, heading into 2024 we do have one interesting system to look at. It’s at Day 8-9 right now so still in the “wish cast” stage. If it gets within 7 days we start thinking maybe, maybe not, within 5 days starting thinking about possible amounts, within 3 days go with the forecasted amounts, within 24 hours make last minutes changes as needed. Basically, this storm in the first few days of January is not only too far south but a little too far out of our minds at the moment. At least it should be.
Other than that, just a cold first week of January before things warm up going into the second week of January. So this doesn’t last. For now.
