From SNOW FREEZE first thing in the morning, especially tomorrow morning, to SNOW BASH starting at 11 AM tomorrow and Sunday, with racing lasting through the afternoons each day! This has always been one of the biggest weekends of the year in Upstate NY. It’s the biggest weekend of the year that is outside of snowmobile season. At least it will feel like it for early risers tomorrow and Sunday. Welcome to the weekend of SNOW BASH!!!
So we have the forecast on a dead lock here. 30s tomorrow morning. If anything, a frost to freeze is likely with a FROST ADVISORY in effect for northern Herkimer County for tomorrow morning and a FREEZE WARNING just a few miles up the road in Hamilton County. That should help to propel the already changing leaves up north. Don’t worry. It will be well into the 60s in the afternoon and on Sunday afternoon we will break 70 degrees with no problem!
If anything, this upcoming winter season has already been given comparisons to 2013-14. That was very similar to this type of weather in September but it turned cold in November and December when it had to and the riding season was definitely one of the better ones we have had in the last 13 years we have ridden here.
After the way thing have been the last several years, and with just that 60 day “unbelievable” stretch of roof collapsing heavy snows in this region last winter, there has not been much to write home about since the winter of 2019-2020. We are seriously hoping for a change.

But that’s not going to happen. At least right now. If anything you don’t want to give too much cold and/or too much snow away too early in the year. By far November is the best predictor month for our winters here with about an 85 to 90% perspective since the late 1800s… AS NOVEMBER GOES, SO GOES THE WINTER.
