Welcome back to a rainy Upstate NY day! It has been a while since we have seen this! GREAT THING! Because the rivers and streams are VERY LOW. In some cases near if not at RECORD LOWS for this time of year. Oh nelly! Guess what? MORE RAIN IS COMING! Will it break the drought? Nope. But it will help!
Seriously. This will help. I am sorry my attention was focused squarely on SNOW BASH which went great this past weekend from what I understand. Then the rains came. And they have continued to pout down today. Some places got over 1/2 inch to an inch of rain already! With how bone dry it has been the last two months, DO NOT THINK this resets everything back to the usual wet pattern we have been in most of the time. Nope. It’s dry! So what happens next?

One more wave of rain this evening and into tomorrow morning. Most of this rain will stay in the Southern Tier, Catskills, Capital Region and the Hudson Valley. Less of it in Central NY and in the Adirondacks. Little to none in Western and Northern NY.

Most of Wednesday and into Wednesday Night should be dry with only light showers and mostly cloudy skies ahead. Then the storm system approaches southern Ontario on Thursday. It goes warm sector. Means a period of rain then potentially breaking out into sunshine for a time. Then stronger thunderstorms to possibly severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and into Thursday night.
On Friday as the storm pulls away, lingering moisture may provide some extra clouds and a few pop up showers but nothing as bad as what will be happening over the next 48 hours. For this weekend and into next week: Sunny and warm conditions will prevail. 70s by day. 40s by night. This plan will continue well into next week and we will start October the same way we ended September: WARM. AND DRY. This means savor any rain we get the next few days. Seriously.

Take a look at this map. This is 10 days from now. It’s a solid 10 to 15 degrees above normal. If not more. It’s bordering on summertime weather in early October. If not, summertime weather. We are nowhere close to where we need to be.
