HAPPY VETERANS DAY TO ALL THOSE WHO SERVED! WE SALUTE YOU AND APPRECIATE YOU! AND TO ALL OF YOU IN UPSTATE NY, AT LEAST IN MOST OF IT, WELCOME TO WINTER! YOUR FIRST ACCUMULATING SNOWS FOR MANY OF YOU HAVE ALREADY FALLEN! IF NOT, YOURS WILL LIKELY COME ABOUT LATER TODAY, TONIGHT, OR TOMORROW MORNING BEFORE MILDER AIR MOVES IN, AND REDUCES THE SNOW FROM AN EVERYWHERE EVENT, TO JUST MAINLY A HIGH ELEVATION, TUG HILL, ADIRONDACK AND CATSKILL EVENT.
Good morning! Ohhh yeahhh! Ohh yeahhh! This is the day I wait for every year to say WINTER IS BACK! I mean, not totally. This snow will melt away before new snow comes. It’s only November 11th and average temperatures during the day are in the 40s across Upstate NY. But enjoy the waves of light to moderate snow along with narrow but intense bands of Lake Effect snow! Some areas will indeed see 10″+ out of this, and not all of it is on the Tug Hill! In the Syracuse area, east of Rochester, and south of Buffalo, you all have several inches of snow to go! So if you already have it, you will get more of it!

Wednesday PM into Wednesday night, milder air moves in from the west changing it back to rain for most folks in the lower elevations. If you live below 1500′, and especially below 1000′, you have 24 to 36 hours to GET OUT AND ENJOY IT because after this, it will go away. It will melt away eventually. Especially by next week…

Don’t ask me about the 8-14 day. It is looking above normal. Precipitation will be in the form of rain, especially in the lower elevations. I have no idea what the accuracy level of this forecast is, however, it has been enough in recent years that I most commonly refer to it. Therefore expect some level of accuracy. Not as much as today or tomorrow, but a lot better than things used to be say a generation ago. Or two!
