Well since we are now on DAY 2 of our snowmobile season, lets get to the list of who we have got who is open as of this morning and whom is not. Again this list is to the best of our knowledge. It is YOUR responsibility to double check with each of these clubs to verify yourselves that indeed the:

TRAILS ARE OPEN:
Town of Webb
Inlet
Indian Lake
Southern Tug Hill
Turin Ridge Riders
DRAG of Speculator
Pleasant Riders
Saranac Lake
Lake Placid
Lake Clear Junction
The rest of the possible trails that could be open we believe to be still closed as of today. As always, It is YOUR responsibility to double check and make sure we are good.

AND NOW TO THE WEATHER. AND THERE IS A LOT OF IT. FROM BITTER COLD, TO HEAVY SNOWS, TO BITTER COLD AGAIN, IT WILL BE A VERY ACTIVE PATTERN THIS WEEK. SNOWDEO WILL BE BOMBED WITH SNOW! IT COULD BE THE MOST SNOW FOR THAT EVENT IN 20 to 30 YEARS!

7 PM THIS EVENING

Increasing clouds during the day today. It should be overcast this afternoon as snow showers enter Western NY first then Central NY as we get into this evening. By 7 PM this evening, you see the extent of the snows across the state. This will be a steady light snow, this is not the gangbuster snows we have been talking about. Not yet anyway!
7 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING
Snow from the first clipper has already moved on through. But the problem is the second clipper, which is by far the more intense one, this one is hitting during morning drive, especially Western and Central NY. This will cause moderate to occasionally heavy snows. Driving on Wednesday will definitely be a challenge.
NOON WEDNESDAY

The heaviest snows are in Northern NY and into the Capital Region and Hudson Valley. It’s not over in Central NY and Western NY but there are breaks in the precipitation.
6 PM WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The big strong 984 mb low with this storm has flown by across northern NY and has moved into New England. Temperatures that spiked briefly into the upper 30s to lower 40s across the lower elevations of Upstate NY for a few hours are about to have whiplash. Again! Here is the big front with snow showers and more squalls coming!
6 AM Thursday Morning

The general large areas of snow have gradually disappeared and have been replaced with snow showers coming off of Lake Erie and particularly Lake Ontario with a few heavier squalls being involved. And once again, the amounts:
THURSDAY NIGHT 7 PM

You have more snow showers with areas of heavier lake effect snow coming particularly off of Lake Ontario. The bottom line is this: There will be additional accumulations on Thursday. There will also be some more on Friday. And Saturday!

10 AM SATURDAY

1 PM SUNDAY

We will have more snow showers, with heavier lake effect squalls. These will be scattered mainly over the lake effect areas and nowhere near as widespread as snowfall the next two days will be. Besides this, count on things to be VERY COLD AGAIN! In fact, night temperatures may be near to below zero YET AGAIN! Again for the weekend of SNOWDEO in Old Forge and Inlet, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be cold, snowy with lots of fresh powder down and the whole Old Forge, Inlet and Indian Lake to Hamilton County sections of trails to enjoy. At the very least. With more opening daily!
That 6-10 Day? YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW. It’s bad! So bad I won’t even show it. Thank you! It will get better. Eventually it will, but just not now.

One last thing: DOWNLOAD THE 2025-26 NYSSA SNOWMOBILE INTERACTIVE MAP! It has on it and available which trails are open, closed, and major hazards that are out there, where and when. It is a great gift for you to download to your iPhone or Android TODAY!
