The Morning Blog is brought to you by the CNY Snow Travelers, the longest snowmobile club in New York State south of the Thruway with over 200 total miles of trails throughout Oneida and Madison Counties. In the 1990’s, 2 other clubs merged with WASTA. Waterville, Brookfield, Bridgewater, and the Sherrill area are some of the destinations on our trail system. Because we cover such a vast area, we decided in 2006 to change the name to CNY Snow Travelers, to more accurately reflect who we are. For more information on our website CLICK HERE.
My apologies to you Upstate Snow Nation. I have been totally under the weather this morning and way far behind. Even though we are now officially out of the holidays, into the full snowmobile season in New York now, and getting a little bit more snow accumulations here over the next 24 to 36 hours here.

These will continue mainly off of Lake Ontario. These bands of snow will oscillate some this afternoon, this evening then into tomorrow. During the afternoon and evening on Saturday, these bands will become briefly widespread one more time as a reinforcing shot of cold air comes through. Good news: It’s another shot. Bad news: It’s the last one for a while.

Here is how things go from Friday Afternoon through Friday Night and into Saturday Evening. As you can tell we get some snow, but not a whole lot to write home about.

Next week the storm that arrives middle of next week is trending a little cooler, especially east of I-81. This could lead it to start out as snow before mixing with and changing to rain. This takes place on Wednesday.

6-10 DAY AND 8-14 DAY
Folks, this is the part of the blog to where we look for ways NOT to tell you that it’s going to get lean. Even though we started out the season so great with 5 feet of snow in Rome and Top 10 snowfalls for November and December, the next 7-14 days in particular do not look anywhere near our favor. If anything, I am almost tempted to say… well… don’t say it! Yet anyway. But just preparing you: If you had rides, trips and/or exploring to do between January 6-15, may I ask if you could reconsider.

Stay on the trails this weekend! It will be mighty busy with the cold and whatever snow is out there across Upstate NY. I will get good measurements of what we have got in the next day or two as that information will be good for planning around this upcoming January Thaw. This is looking like one of the better ones to come around. Get ready.
