The Afternoon Blog 01.20.26

The Afternoon Blog (SORRY) is brought to you by the Folsom Trail Blazers of Wyoming County with over 90 miles of groomed trails that are open, being used, and currently being hit good by the lake effect snow coming off of Lake Erie! It won’t be for long with that bitter cold air coming over the next two weeks, the lake will freeze right up and shut off most of the lake effect. Get in the good riding while you can in a very nice area of Western NY not too far from Buffalo! For more information CLICK HERE.

I had wondered just how many people actually saw my POST FROM YESTERDAY. It didn’t appear as though, for how large and how much stuff was in it, that it got maybe lost a little bit on the trail because of the 3 day weekend? If you haven’t checked it out yet, do so there. The forecast map I am leaving put and the totals through Wednesday Night we will see exactly where we land by that time. You know how I go with these things. Most of the time it is good. Sometimes it is a little bit off. But for most of the snowmobilers, its good information for them to set up their RIDES.

Null

Speaking off, if you have not set up any rides over the next 2-4 weeks, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? It will be DANG COLD! It may or may not be snowy. But with the dang cold whatever snow will not be going anywhere. So where are we now?

SHORT TERM
The intense lake effect will diminish tonight and may actually take a break before the next system rolls on in tomorrow afternoon and evening with generalized snows. This was part of the discussion with the time part of my forecast. I chose to go to the evening Wednesday and take in the additional few inches from that.

After these go away, what will come next? These will come next in from the north and the west, the next clipper coming down from Canada. Most of this snow falls tomorrow afternoon and into the evening before tapering off. About 6 hours.

On Thursday Morning another weak front passes by and that will help to keep the chances of snowfall up for Thursday and as well into Friday. The lake effect will not be anywhere near as heavy or crazy as what it is right now.

Then we get to the weekend. And beyond. And into next week. Much of this winter has been cloudy. Some of this winter has been mild. Some of it normal. Some of it dang cold. In all of it, clouds have ruled! Two big changes are coming:

  1. A lot more sunshine expected this weekend into next week. At least more than has been seen.
  2. It will be DANG COLD! Like seriously dang dang! Like I took a peek at the records just to see if we would have a shot at them. I think we are OK. But just letting you know.

Get out and enjoy your snowmobile riding. Wherever it is open. Wherever you can. Ride safe. Ride right!
