The Afternoon Blog 10.31.25

GOOD AFTERNOON UPSTATE SNOW NATION! THE RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW OVER THE NEXT 2-4 HOURS (FROM 2;30 PM 10/31) NORTH OF THE THRUWAY. SO BETWEEN 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, generally sunset time, this is when rain will change to snow. Best chance is at or over 1000 feet. The higher up you are, the quicker it changes and the more likely you will to get first accumulations. I have tweaked the accumulations slightly based on the latest model runs. The trace to 1″ is for the Tug Hill ONLY and generally between 1500′ and Gomer Hill at 2080′. The trace to 2″ I have almost all around the Adirondack Park boundary. Most will see a trace, but higher elevation locations will see an inch or two. Only in the high peaks, above 2000′ to 2500′, is the 2-4 inch zone. No one lives there! Or hardly anyway. But just so you know in case there is more, there it will be.

The rain changes to snow this evening north of the Thruway. In areas below 1000′, the snow will probably not add up to much of anything. Hence why no accumulations. Now Watertown, Massena, Glens Falls and Plattsburgh could very well see there first -SN or -SNRA of the season. So TRICK OR TREAT! PREPARE FOR THIS AS YOU ARE GOING ABOUT FOR YOUR TRICKS AND YOUR TREATS! BUHAHAHAHA!

Null

On Saturday morning, most of the precipitation will be ending. Depending on when you get up, it may be over by the time you wake up! And the weather for the rest of the weekend is looking mostly cloudy and dry with 40s during the day. 20s at night. Typical November weather for the region.

Looking farther ahead in the forecast and past a very important day of TUESDAY (hint…) It is looking about normal for the 5th through the 9th and ABOVE NORMAL looking towards VETERAN’S DAY. It is not unusual to see such weather patterns at this time of year. It no longer guarantees that we will not have a cold shot with snow, however, it means that it would be brief and it would warm right back up. Just like it will do in the coming days after this light stuff comes through.

So enjoy the weekend! Enjoy your first snows tonight and tomorrow morning! I will be active on FACEBOOK posting these pictures of it as they come in tonight and tomorrow morning.
