The Evening Blog 03.04.2020

Folks… it’s not looking good… Amazing how one week ago was Blizzard fever… we got all this snow… and now Mother Nature has put the afterburners on…

As you see the playground is getting small… FAST. Unless we get a BIG storm mid to late March, the season is OVER for most clubs near and south of the Thruway. The exception being the higher elevations of Madison, Cortland, Onondaga and Chenango Counties at the moment. The connections from Tug Hill to Adirondacks are burned out and done. STH just closed West Leyden and Constableville. We basically have Brantingham east of Old Forge/Inlet, MRP, Hamilton County up to Newcomb, Ohio Ridge Riders, Stratford, Salisbury, Fulton County and the Tri Lakes area around Tupper/Saranac and Franklin Counties left, outside of the keeper of the snow… TUG HILL PROPER. That’s the playground that is left and it’s shrinking fast. As always, double check with clubs before trailering up!

Null

We do have a clipper coming Friday with a dusting to 2″ of snow, maybe locally more N of the Thruway but temps will be marginal. Friday Night into Saturday AM will be COLD. For those areas that can still ride, Friday Night will be a good grooming night.

But it will not last long. The cold air retreats quickly and by Sunday afternoon we are back to short sleeves in the sun for some…

By Monday afternoon… maybe even SHORTS…

While it should cool off a little Tuesday/Wednesday next week… the long range is not showing anything close to snow by next Thursday…

So bottom line: The riding season is going to become die hard season soon. Tug Hill proper and some parts of the Adirondacks have enough snow to last for awhile… but at the rate we are going… even they will be down to mud after March 15th at this rate.

If you want that final ride, check with clubs in the Tug and Adirondacks, get your fuel stabilizer in, and enjoy the last rips of the season over the next 5-10 days. If anything major changes, we’ll let you know.
