So we have some lake effect snow… even in January with air temps well into the 30s and above freezing! Because when the Great Lakes are still above 40 F, you don’t need as cold of air to set off lake effect. And that’s what will happen later this afternoon and into tonight. There will be a break in the snowfall before another weak round rolls through tomorrow. So over the next 36 hours we will get a little snow. The closer you are to the lakes, the better. The farther away you are from them…
The next storm system will not roll in on Friday. Take Friday as the calm before THE STORM. Because what happens after Friday will be big. It all starts Friday Night with rain and snow starting up, switching to all rain Saturday with temps threatening to break 40 one more time. Then the bottom falls out. And the TRUE WINTER finally arrives!!!
This is when temperatures fall below freezing. And stays there. For a long while. This is when the lake effect gets roaring. And stays there. For a long while. I know it’s Wednesday and I am not 100% sure on winds but Sunday PM’s Wildcard game in Buffalo could be harry!!!
And then it stays cold all of next week! Finally winter is here! So if we can wait past this MLK weekend, it will FINALLY be TIME TO RIDE EVERYWHERE in Upstate NY! Sound the bells!
