And speaking of, welcome to the LIGHT SNOW across most of New York State today. If you are not seeing it now, you will within a few hours. If you are now, don’t blink, otherwise you will miss the time the snow was around and it will be gone before you even realized it was there. It’s that type of Monday.

Next storm system is showing up better on the higher resolution models. This one will actually need some potential accumulations tomorrow (let us get past this one today though) with rain/snow mix in the lower elevations and particularly south and west of Syracuse. To the north and east, expect a much better chance at snow or at least a mix for a time. Again the highest elevations will see your best chance of snow.

After that moves out on Wednesday, then the gradually milder air moves in. 30s to 40 on Wednesday. 40s on Thursday. Pushing up near 50 with rain showers developing Friday. 50s with rain showers on Saturday. Yep. That is the typical January Thaw. It will take a lot of low snow areas out of play for a while. Places with a whole lot more snow should be able to take the beating. We will see. The thaw is supposed to last 4 days.

On Sunday and beyond, that is when typical January cold and snow is supposed to return. Does it? Or do we just end up being dry and mostly cloudy after the warmth and rain that are predicted come on through? Who knows.
