The Morning Blog is brought to you by your morning cup of Joe. Why? Just because we can! No one is giving us rules for these promotions. They cost you nothing and cost our friends nothing, so therefore, let’s make it the best part of your morning. Your morning cup of Joe!

We have snow showers with heavier areas focused just north of the Mohawk Valley. Light snows will continue on and off today but the snow will be most consistent this evening and overnight into early Thursday morning. It appears as though this area from Oswego through Southern Lewis, Northern Oneida, Central Herkimer into Fulton and Southern Hamilton Counties will end up seeing the most snow with 4 to 8 inches of lake effect figured into it. Other areas of lighter lake effect or just general snows will be found south of I-90 in the higher elevations with only 2-4 inches in these areas.

Scattered snow showers will continue to be found on Thursday but not much additional accumulation during the day. In fact by the evening, we are DONE. For Friday and Saturday, temperatures actually tick upwards. Upstate NY goes above normal for two days. More especially on Saturday as it it will be above freezing everywhere with 40s in the lower elevations. This ought to get the maple syrup farms going well, especially in the lower elevations.

The next cold blast arrives by Sunday. We have at least three days of totally below freezing temperatures. Highs on Monday will not even break out of the teens in the lower elevations. There will be another chance snow but this looks to happen on Tuesday, be light to moderate at this point with it being too far for any significant accumulations.

Most of next week (6-10 day) is looking below normal. Which with it being the first week of March, this is good! The 8-14 day is looking above normal. With us looking deeper into March on that, especially in Western NY, that is NOT good. I am not sounding the RIDE NOW OR ELSE airhorns yet. But. This could be one of those days. Or one of those signs. That a GREAT WINTER that we have had over the last several months, is gradually starting to draw towards its conclusion.
Let’s hope we get just a little more this year!
