Heads up! Not today but for tomorrow. Our long awaited approaching cold front will be near us in the afternoon and evening on Thursday, then passing through the state. Strong thunderstorms are likely. Possibly a few could go severe. Behind this storm, it turns cooler this weekend and into next week.
Hey! One more 80 degree day or better today after it started off on the cool side yet again with all kinds of 40s and low 50s out there. A very warm day today. Savor it! Tomorrow things change. It starts beautiful yes, but the day ends up much different than today.
A line of rain and thunderstorms will crash through Upstate NY in the afternoon and evening. Strong to possibly severe thunderstorms will happen with this line. With 80s in front of it and temperatures in the 60s in back of it, you know there is enough difference for a pop and a pow to it. Not the worst we have seen in September. But it will be something.
On Friday and into Saturday temperatures will gradually get cooler with extra clouds and scattered showers hanging around. It won’t be until early next week from Sunday through Tuesday that good amounts of sunshine will return. Highs will be back into the 60s with only the warmest areas still talking 70 at this point in time.
The 8-14 day forecast still has us just below normal, not just for Upstate NY. but for all of the Northeast. We will let you know when this breaks, but we are telling you day by, day, we are seeing the trends shifting. Second half of September should be at least normal if not above normal for Upstate NY. Give it a few more days.
