GOOD MORNING. WE ARE SORRY IF WE GOT YOU GUYS JUST A LITTLE TOO EXCITED ON WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WERE HONEST AT THAT POINT IN TIME. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MODEL RUNS, THINGS HAVE CHANGED. TEMPERATURES FOR TODAY, AS OF WEDNESDAY MORNING, WERE GOING TO STRUGGLE TO BREAK 60. NOW THEY ARE GOING TO GO INTO THE 70’S IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS, ESPECIALLY TO THE SOUTH. AND WHERE THERE WAS NO CHANCES OF SEVERE WEATHER, THOSE CHANCES ARE NOW UP TO A LOT OF UPSTATE NY FROM THE THRUWAY SOUTH THIS AFTERNOON. THEN AFTER THE FRONT CLEARS US, THE WINDS GET WHIPPING AROUND TO THE NW, MOST OF THE RAINFALL WILL END BEFORE IT EVEN GETS COLD ENOUGH TO CHANGE IT TO SNOW. YOU SAW NO JUST US BUT PRETTY MUCH A LOT OF GUYS PUTTING UP FIRST SNOWFALLS FOR THE YEAR IN UPSTATE NY. WE ARE TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW, UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE ADIRONDACK PARK, OR NEAR THERE, DON’T COUNT ON IT. AT LEAST THIS TIME.
We don’t like these kind of updates but we need to do them. Three days forecasting in advance, while still way more accurate than it used to be say 20-30 years ago, it is less accurate than a forecast 24 hours out. Like this one.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THIS?
Saturday Night and Sunday Night, a HARD FREEZE EVERYWHERE. If there are any places still hanging on to a growing season (I know most aren’t by now), this weekend’s teens and 20’s first thing in the morning should end any future talk about anything growing. Kill those mosquitoes, it’s time to say goodbye!

INDIAN SUMMER?
The technical definition of an Indian Summer is three 70 degree days or better after the first flakes of the year. We have to see about that first, but if that does happen for some tonight and tomorrow morning, there is an increasing likelihood of temperatures well into the 60’s, if not hitting the 70’s in some parts of Upstate NY later next week. The warmth will be there. It’s just a matter of how much and where. For the rest of October, it is definitely looking like ZERO chance of anything white or anything really cold.
UPSTATE SNOW
Here is our plan. We are taking a family trip to Florida tomorrow. We return Tuesday Night to SC. Any thing that should change drastically that needs to be noted on the Facebook page or on this site, we will get it up there somehow. And with these warm temperatures staying around, expect few updates. For now. But you know more will be coming. Eventually.
