Snow showers and some snow squalls will flare up tomorrow afternoon through Monday morning across Upstate NY. The latest accumulations map is attached. Yes we are going to continually add to our base and continually add up all we have to be thankful for as snowmobile season starts TOMORROW NIGHT at sunset across parts of the Tug Hill and the Adirondacks. More on that coming up shortly.
TOMORROW EVENING’S LITTLE SYSTEM
This is the weak system coming through tomorrow afternoon and evening. It should provide the general Dusting to an inch or two across the majority of the state. Only areas downwind of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario Sunday Night especially and into the AM rush on Monday will receive additional snowfall of a few additional inches. Many of the lake effect ingredients, the biggest of which is deep low level moisture, are not there. Hence why accumulations are down.
BIG COLD RETURNS EARLY NEXT WEEK
After that the next blast of cold air follows early next week. -5 in Rome again? Probably not as of now but zero to 5 above looks a lot more likely. Then again at this range it did look like that LAST TIME..
THE EXTENDED
Looking farther ahead, there is TOTAL HOPE for Snowdeo! It will be by far the best Snowdeo since the last one with a lot of cold and snow in 2018. In fact, name anything you would like to do, on a snowmobile, anything you have not been able to do for many years in a row because it has been so blow torch warm around here… NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! It has not been this cold and snowy for the start of the season in probably 20 years! Maybe more than that!!!
ANNOUNCEMENTS!
With this being our chance to let everyone know snowmobile season will get going AS MUCH AS POSSIBILE next week, I want to give you all fair warning on things! Starting Monday Morning, the first full day of the season, my reports will have some substance to them. I will try to maintain this everyday of the season. I will try to report on all areas of the state that would happen to be open THAT DAY. Obviously we won’t have a lot this month. But once January 2 hits, the rest of NY opens up and I get to report on a lot more of the state. Please understand, areas where there is a lot more likely to be riding, like the lake effect band areas, I am going to try and save these for later in the season when things begin to wear down. And because these trails are the most ridden. You’ll figure out my reasoning for this.
Another reason is something we will be launching starting MONDAY DECEMBER 8TH. We will have during December through the end of March (over 100 days worth), A NYSSA CLUB TO SPONSOR ONE REPORT PER DAY. I am going to include this for every NYSSA club I can do this for. Can I get to every single one? Maybe if I try but I can get to a majority of them. I believe that is an important thing to do. And finally, to promote since riding is so readily available to anyone around the state snow, the trails simply are not! There is none now, a few next week, more the week after, then all of them come January 2nd. Those are the rules we have to live by. For now.
So starting on Monday the 8th, what you will see each day from us going until March 31st. Or later:
– A snowmobile report for the day sponsored by a snowmobile club (which I aim to make sure would be open that day)
