It was cold to start the day again! Another morning in the single digits in Rome with BELOW ZERO readings YET AGAIN across the North Country and Adirondacks. It has not been as cold as 2015, but this has been by far this coldest winter since then. In the last 11 years. For many folks especially east of I-81 this year, the season has been tremendous! For many locations, the best in a decade! All of December (for those who could ride it then), January and February, all three months had good snow, good riding, and the thaws were minimal. It was not that that was none, just not as bas as it could have been. But as they always say, things change. Today will be that kind of a day here at Upstate Snow. Get ready. The clock is starting to TICK. TICK TOK TICK TOK TICK TOK… Eventually, BOOM! There goes the 2025-26 season.

While we had cold air in place this morning, this afternoon it will warm up quickly to around 40 degrees with 30s up north. Tonight clouds will increase and temperatures will not drop anywhere near as far. Tomorrow, snow showers with some lower elevation rains will be around with temperatures in the 30s up north to 40s in the lower elevations. Then the FINAL ARCTIC FRONT MOVES IN TIME TO BRING IN MARCH LIKE A LION.

Heading into Saturday Night and through the day on Sunday, a clipper system will bring snow showers with lake effect squalls. I will put up a map of the accumulations expected for this tomorrow morning. This will be through Sunday.

Monday will be a sunny but cold day with highs in the teens up north to the 20s in the lower elevations. It seems like the same old same old all winter long. But starting on Tuesday, the worm begins to turn. Tuesday we see the final storm system per the Euro moving on through. Some models have this, some don’t. We still have 4-5 days to watch this thing but simply put, any precipitation that falls out of this Tuesday clipper, will likely be the last one for this long 2025-26 winter. At least the long consistent part of it. And now what many have been waiting for:

6-10 DAY and 8-14 DAY
The 80-90% reach of warmth into the entire Northeast from March 4 through March 13 is a tell tale sign that SPRING IS COMING. FAST. Normal temperatures are above freezing everywhere by March, 30s up north, with 40s in the lower elevations. Based upon some of the data I am looking at, several days of 50s and 60s if not 70s, near record highs, are very possible during this period. Stay tuned. The snow will melt fast. Waters will rise fast. Floods will come fast. Just be prepared for it.
