Local Riding 02.11.26

This Blog post is brought to you by the Saratoga Snowmobile Association. Since 2020, they have been dedicated to improving our sport! With dozens of miles of groomed trails including a Mountaintop restaurant, check them out! They are also major sponsors of ours for years! CLICK HERE for more!

Since Tuesday the 10th was an off day, Wednesday the 11th had to be a ride day. Only one problem: Everyone in the area had bailed out. No Bo. No Mike. No Dave. No Darrin. No anyone else. It was the Zack show or he would be sitting there alone watching TV on this 31 degree NY snow fall kind of day.

The whole purpose of the ride was to stay local. And so Zack stayed local. After starting at Mike Spadaro’s house in Remsen he headed north up to Oneida County 5, then south up to Dutcher’s Run. From there the views were very impressive. Not so much because you could see 60 miles because of the clear skies… but because you could only see maybe 3-6 miles because of all of the snow around!

Zack continued southbound off of the hills and into the Steuben Valley. He made his way carefully down this valley back to Barneveld, then he went into the Deerfield system. Flying through the wide open fields, Zack really enjoyed himself! He went down the hill then across the West Canada Creek to get into the Ohio Ridge Riders system. Just briefly. Briefly enough to make a scheduled stop at Stewart’s Shops for LUNCH just before Noon! BBQ RANCH PIZZA!

Next up was heading south and west back through the Deerfield trails then back to Penn Mountain again. This time he circled into Holland Patent from the south then took the same way the second time back to Barneveld. Only this time instead of heading back to Deerfield to the east, Zack headed south through Penn Mountain and back to Deerfield near Smith Hill again.

After some more back and forth, Zack decided to come back north through Deerfield but this time on a different trail, the one that parallels Route 12 rather than the one that parallels Route 8. He made it past our sister in law Bonnie’s place, then headed up to where 12 crosses and where Deerfield becomes Penn Mountain again. The rest of the story ends fine. What happened after we shall leave to your imagination.

97 miles of pure fun with absolute deep snow! It was an amazing day an Zack is a thankful man tonight!

Tomorrow’s ride will be with one of the best. A man. A myth. A legend. Probably gave enough away already. Oh and by the way, the 6-10 day and the 8-14 day are NOT looking good. GET OUT AND RIDE!
